Master's Journey at IIT Delhi: Gratitude, Achievements, and New Beginnings

Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi provided me with a platform to explore extraordinary opportunities and meet some exceptional people. As I step back into the corporate world, I feel it is essential to acknowledge the contribution of the institution that made it all possible.

I recently defended my Master's Thesis at DESE, IIT Delhi and completed all other necessary requirements for my degree. I am already onboard at one of my dream companies, where I hope to #MakeAnImpactThatMatters (stay tuned for the next post). Over the next few weeks, I would share how the decision to join IITD turned out to be transformational and opened up a plethora of opportunities for me. Also, how it has helped me gain academic insights regarding emerging Energy & Environment Technologies, Sustainability, Renewable Energy Transition, Tech Consulting, etc.

Here are a few highlights of my journey so far, along with the attached certificates- 

• ▸DAAD German Academic Exchange Service DAAD (KOSPIE) Scholar 2022- Successfully completed project at the Chair of Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems, Technical University of Munich, as part of the master's thesis. Among the 5 selected from IITD. (Link to Post)

• ▸Dr Shuli Goodman Memorial Scholar 2023- Among <40 recipients globally; to attend The Linux Foundation's Energy Summit in Paris, France. Represented IITD.

• ▸Runner's up at Siemens Tech4Sustainability Challenge- 'Tokenise the Energy Transition Track' as part of ImpactScope Team. 152 Ideas were submitted worldwide. (Certificate attached)

• ▸EmS Scholar 2022-23 - Represented Indian Culture at a German School (Certificate attached; Link to the Post).

• ▸Earned Global Governance Initiative GGI Impact MBA Scholar 2022-23 Certificate. Also participated in Start-up Weekend.

• ▸Earned Blockchain Specialisation- Completed 4 courses over 6 months, culminating in a startup-ready Capstone Project. (Certificate)

• ▸Attended the World Economic Forum 2023- to help organise a Panel on ‘Achieving Sustainability Through Supply Chain Traceability’ with the ProDecipher Team. (Link to Learnings Post)

• ▸Secured the Campus Placement at one of the Dream Big4 Consulting Firms.

• ▸Contributed to organising NamasteyNFT 2022 at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre as a Web3 Outreach Consultant.

• ▸An article on my Experiences got featured in Energia- the annual magazine of The Energy Forum, the Departmental Society of DESE, IIT Delhi.

Joining IIT Delhi has been truly life-changing for me. Taking non-linear paths and finding Blue Oceans lies at the core of the strategy to perform here. Opportunities through master's at Indian IITs not only expose you to cutting-edge tech but also takes you to Islands where the 'magic happens'. Although my reasons for choosing IITD evolved as I got more exposure, I have not looked back ever since. Going against the popular decision to opt for the more 'stable' and rewarding options is difficult, but that has made all the difference.

I had some extraordinary individuals advising me all along. Thanks for being by my side; I'll be forever grateful. I will keep trying my best to contribute to Clean Energy Transition, exploring means to meet the Sustainability Goals of India and beyond in the future as well.

P.S: This article touches upon the professional development aspect at IITD. Unforgettable memories, fulfilment of some lifegoals, and lifelong friendships that I made are beyond the scope of this article :)
